Housebuilder spreading Christmas cheer to children in refuge

Mansfield based Rippon Homes is foregoing the traditional workplace secret Santa this year to participate in KidsOut Giving Tree.

The organisation helps children who have survived domestic violence, helping over 65,000 children a year have fun through trips and gifts, as well as providing practical assistance like food vouchers.

Its annual Giving Tree scheme ensures these disadvantaged children who would otherwise go without, receive presents over the Christmas period through generous donations.

This year they have created the KidsOut online shop listing the most requested toys from children in refuge. This enables the scheme to continue in a safe manner by reducing the amount of handling of the presents.

Every member of the Rippon office team will be purchasing a gift from the virtual tree to bring some festive cheer to children, in what has been an extraordinarily difficult year for them.

Sandra Doherty, Head of Children’s Services at KidsOut said “We’re really grateful to Rippon Homes for their generous contribution to our Giving Tree. Our work has been especially crucial this year as the Coronavirus outbreak resulted in a domestic abuse crisis, so Rippon’s assistance is especially appreciated.”

Ian Dyke, Managing Director at Rippon Homes added, “We’re very glad to be contributing to such a valuable scheme; this Christmas is going to be different for most of us, but we hope these gifts can restore a slight sense of normality and enjoyment to these children.”
